Clidastes is probably my favorite mosasaur. It's around 20 feet long, somewhat cute for a giant reptilian predator, and is known from some truly gorgeous preserved specimens. This particular one is Artemis, who can be seen in the Alabama Museum of Natural History.

The coloration here is reminiscent of certain types of shallow water sharks.

So beautiful, both your drawing and the animal. People need to stop thinking "dinosaur" when they hear "giant lizard" and give these truckers the spotlight!

While I still dig the dorsal-flanged sea lizards in those exquisite Charles Knight/Zdenek Burian illustrations, recent discoveries have kept things very interesting indeed on the mosasaur front. Fleshy tail-rudders & porpoise-style ramming snouts? Too spiffy. This rendering just oozes streamlined efficiency-even that beefy neck musculature contributes to its grim grace. I have to ponder whether those compact flippers indicate a high-speed, single-pass 'barracuda' approach to hunting.

A literary recommendation before I forget: Sea Dragons by Richard Ellis. Quality author, quality subject coverage.
