"There's something there...In the water..."

1999. Seoul, South Korea. An American Military base attendant pours hundreds of gallons of formaldehyde down the drain, where it spreads and empties into the Han river. The attendent is not punished; no one knows or cares. And in the river, something unnatural begins to grow. A few years later, scattered reports of a strange creature begin to emerge, where they are ignored by the government.

2005. In a sudden, brutal attack, a creature emerges from the Han river; nearly thirty feet long, it bounds along on two massive arms, it's skin wriggling and writhing with a mass of river parasites and trapped fish, it's mouth opening into mishapen jaws. Hundreds are killed in the attack. The creature then disappears back into the river.
The American military forces the goverment to orchestrate a cover up, as all who have been in contact with the creature are taken in to search for signs of contagion. The creature is theorized to be the host of some deadly disease. All evidence pointing to the contrary is summarily dismissed. Efforts at quarantine and locating a missing family begin to take over the broader concerns of finding the creature, which continues to kill and devour people along the river.

Finally, the American Military pushes through a measure to use a virulent biological weapon known as "Agent Orange" in an effort to kill the creature. When the creature atacks a crowd of protesters near the drop sight, "Agent Orange" is deployed, causing massive environmental damage. The brave actions of nearby civilians result in the creatures death, and the carcass is removed. It's present whereabouts are unknown, and the American military refuses to divulge any information regarding the virus or the creature itself.

The nature of the creature is unknown; circumstantial reports have it "playing" with it's food, and it is known to have used the sewers as a nest and larder. The Korean Goverment has officially stated that "Gwoemul" was the sole representitave of it's kind.
Wether that's true remains to be seen....
