The Anisgina War: Part One
As for this, it happened long ago....
1
Once, up in the high hills of Oconee, there lived a hermit. He was a strange and wild man, who rarely spoke or came down from his old house on the mountainside. It was whispered by some that he guarded some great treasure up there; a hoard of stolen confederate gold, a stream that sparkled with shining gems, or something even more precious. Whatever it might have been, none could pry a word about this treasure from the hermit on the few times he came down the hollow and into town. Eventually the hermit tired of the constant questions and declined to come at all.
Now there were rough men who did belie
Serok concentrated intently on the surface of the water, his hands moving slowly as he adjusted the line. He could see the dark form of the coelacanth hanging motionless below the surface, its ragged fins waving in the slow current. Six feet and 260 pounds of monster fish, there for the taking.
He checked the line carefully. Hed bought the rope in one of the villages specifically for this purpose, his other cords being completely unequal to the task. The monster of the fishing hole had snapped them all with ease, retreating to the clear depths and gulping down the bait with a somewhat preoccupied air. This time, though, it would be
Here's a tale brought up to scale.
Sun's up and warming,
now worming
now squirming
Out scrabble the rabble from under the bark.
Hark! The wood's getting hot
But not hotter then sand.
Toes up now but walking
And stalking
Wait.
Stick arms comes hopping
legs chirping
he's flirting.
Wait.
Heart quickens, mouth slickens
Blink, wait-
Forward!
Bite.
The kill is fulfilling.
Push up!
Push up!
Sleep.
RESPONSIBILITY
For it is far easier to blame the flame
Instead of our own minds
Really though, they are the same
Exept fire never lies
FUTILITY
She's an old flame reignited
She's pumped, she's excited
She's admitted her mistake
This time it isn't fake!
Untill it all burns out
She turns around in turnabout
Like smoke she drifts away
She'll come back another day.
WHAT IVE TASTED OF DESIRE
Desire is
one failure on
top of another.
I THINK THE WORLD SHALL END IN FIRE
Desire, all men should understand,
How their lives are fated
A feeling fierce, as fierce as fire
Angry coals of rage then fann'd
an gnawing hunger never satiat
If you don't look then you'll never know
Who's up there illuminating the show
Theres a girl from whom radiance flies
From spotlights to sparkles in her eyes
So I say hey, kids, look at the roof, she's way up there working the booth.
Up in the dark she's riding the boards
Tapping out cues and testing the cords
Her fingers move with every action & page
Sweet golden sunlight bathing the stage
So I say hey, boys, turn real smooth, she's way up there working the booth
And the day it'll come I'm sure
When she gets all she wanted and more
When she's up in the booth of a stadium grand
And the lights that'll shine with a flick from her ha

The day of black sky grew from the sea
Below the carved corals, far under the reefs
Blue waters above, molten hells close beneath
Tremors and contractions
The earth's violent reactions
To a turmoil deep down below.
The day of black sun dawned with a roar
That broke up the mountain and buried the shore
A wrenched open gate to a deep burning core
A red flower blooming
A swift death over looming
Wiping out everything near.
The day of black sun turned into a year
An time of confusion, of red moons and fear
With prayers and laments-is the end drawing near?
An island's demise-
and subsequent rise-
Perhaps it's to happe
I'd hoped you were smiling at me
But you were just greeting the sun
I've longed so hard to stroke your sweet sides
I call out my love but you turn round and run....
I saw you bathe in the stream
A sweet water plunge for my dusty eyes
I live for the touch of your slender white hands
But as I gaze at your face I see the fear rise...
But like sweet sun god Apollo
Wherever you lead me I'll follow
Whatever you feed me I'll swallow
Darling, don't run, won't you take my hand?
You fled from my sunlit embrace
Vanished to the glade of smooth river trees
So down I lay between your hard rooted toes
And watched leafy fingers wave in the bre
Examine nature.
A surfeit of forms, strangely arranged.
Beautiful or beastly or both in our minds.
Notice a tick, creeping on a rock
Shudder at plasma pilfered sans permission.
Pick out the snake coiled under a log.
Unblinking, unflinching, unknowable, feared.
Wonder at the spider, inhabiting a trap (delicate and beautiful, as so many are)
Or the shark, the carcharodon carved into predatory perfection.
Scales and chitin and cartilage.
Phobia is not often found in fur.

Written by Asher Elbein
Am G
Run like the wind and walk like a ghost
D Am
He bets all he has, holds his cards close
Am G
But its never enough, he always wants more
D Am
Plays the song of his life through the pistol and the sword
Hes stepped from space to the sky to the land
Everything to see and nothing to demand.
He cant have what he wants cuz its all just a swirl
His futures in the past and the past is the world
